Since receiving national attention on HGTV's Design Star and Showdown, Colorado native Matt Locke has been filming new media projects and reshaping the material world; creating interiors, designing buildings, and prototyping products. Matt presented a new collection of functional sculptures and designed the VIP lounge for Dwell Magazine's Dwell on Design, the west coast's largest design event. From the show, Matt secured a colossal art commission - a twenty-foot tall installation depicting Manhattan and the NYC Subway, rendered in wood, metal, glass, and found objects - a project to be chronicled here soon in a new blog. Matt is a sought-after public speaker, headlining home shows and charity events across the country, and is currently the face of SC Johnson's Right@Home campaign for Walmart.com. Matt is also curating a collection of original design objects to debut at the L.A. Mart Design Center this November. Matt holds a bachelor's degree in American history from Princeton University, studied fine art at the Savannah College of Art & Design, and industrial design at Chicago's Institute of Design (originally the New Bauhaus). Matt resides in downtown Los Angeles.
